Candles and Cream

So, one thing about the IRS...not very funny people. Things were getting just a bit hectic last night so it was time to bring in reinforcements...finely scented air and dairy. I am a candle addict. I have undoubtedly tried everything that I can set on fire, with little or no consideration of cost, composition or burn time. After years of experimentation and searching for rare and exclusive brands or something better than the last, I learned to always have an emergency Diptyque on hand because they never disappoint. It's almost like always having a bottle of Veuve Cliquot around just in case you have to celebrate something incredible at a moment's notice. Has that ever happened to me? I don't think so. But it doesn't mean that I shouldn't be prepared. That is the nature of an emergency after all...you don't know when it's going to happen. After the calming mood was set with the soft flicker of candlelight and tuberose wafting through the air, I would like to tell you that I savored a bowl of Whiskey & Pecans ice cream, but in reality I just inhaled it. As my photo evidence shows, there was also a macaron involved, but the poor thing didn't stand a chance.

I Can't Wear What?

As the upcoming on site meeting with the IRS approaches, my boss requested that I "do not wear any feathers or sequins". I took the liberty of adding "no fur or glitter" to the list because I see where he is going with this (though for the record, feathers with a blazer are totally appropriate). With today being the last day before the arrival of "The Service" (I guess the IRS is rebranding itself), I had to get all of the tax anxiety worked out in one outfit before cleaning up my act. That means it's a perfect day for pajama pants and Angry Bird booties. I'll save the suit for tomorrow.

What Happened To Sunday Funday?

My Sundays have gradually evolved from socially acceptable mild daytime drunkenness to a really intense task oriented pep rally for the upcoming week. I long for the Sundays that consisted of knocking out an entire bottle of pinot grigio and taking hours to cook a soufflé all while running a Gossip Girl marathon in the background. Three hour naps with a plastic cap on my head while my hair masque replenishes all of the nutrients depleted from the aforementioned entire bottle of pinot grigio. But times have changed and in between chasing down two baby animals that look like me, cooking a reasonably timed meal for the upcoming nights and the seemingly endless loads of animal laundry, I hand wash my delicates to prevent the crisis of a mid-week knickers shortage. This is all me and cannot be outsourced. I require my own wash that shall not be utilized on any animal laundry and that is hidden under the sink. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis Liquid Detergent smells nothing less than divine and leaves your clothes so wonderfully scented that you pause for a moment while rushing through your dressing routine on an early Monday morning and think to yourself, "damn, I smell good". I have been known to use the double threat of the liquid detergent and the fabric softener for the sheets and duvet covers for extra special houseguests. Use with extreme caution though because they may never leave.
