I'm Not Long For This World...

Now that the company that I have worked at as the Corporate Administration Director (HBIC or Joan Holloway minus sex with revolting clients) for almost 13 years has successfully been acquired, the inevitable and personally disappointing restructuring of overhead staff will make me a housefraus come August. Albeit, the housefraus with the baddest shoes in all the county, but still a housefraus. I have been constantly employed since 1995, working 2 days after leaving college even working within a week of the births of both of my children. Being at home, unemployed is definitely causing an immense amount of anxiety for me. I feel somewhat bitter, but mostly fear and panic because I'm not one who deals well with uncertainty and the absence of control. I always have a plan and I always take care of myself and as of now, I have no clue in hell what I'm going to do. So for the next 2 1/2 months as I earnestly work out my position as transitional staff, I have a creative plan to systematically violate the newly stated corporate dress code in the most avant-garde way I possibly can. The French Revolution had sans-culottes, I will have pants, but I cannot promise that they will not be made of squirrel fur or Kakapo feathers (the Kakapo doesn't need them anyway....bitch don't even fly).

The Reason They Keep Some Meds Behind The Counter

I was excited that the weather was more appropriate this weekend, but the pollen situation isn't treating me too well. Unfortunately that means no outfit pictures and trying to stay indoors as much as tolerable. You know those meds, they keep behind the counter and ask for your ID to purchase? Well I know some ambitious entrepreneurs find themselves cooking it up into a little bit of meth, but I went a bit farther after taking those meds and started styling my Fall 2013 wardrobe with the imaginary budget of a successful meth dealer. I am really digging this (6 months ahead of time...I have issues living in the present), so let's break it down with some more reasonable alternatives. This process is what I like to call Le Rêve (the dream) vs. Le Real (real talk):

Sweater
Le Rêve: Rag & Bone Hart Sweater $275 (sold out but check out Jenni Kayne $550)
Le Real: Enza Costa Reverse Stripe Crew Sweater  $82.97 (sale!)

Shirt
Le Real: Madewell Windowpane Boyshirt $69.50

Handbag
Le Rêve: Victoria Beckham Tote $3150
Le Real: Tory Burch Robinson Tote $575

Jeans
Le Rêve: J Brand Legging Jean $184
Le Real: KUT from the Kloth Mia Jeans $79.50

Scarf

Boots
Le Rêve & Le Real: Kurt Geiger Sloane Chelsea Boot $115 on sale 50% off!

I was killing it with the $3000+ handbag and nearly $1k for a button down shirt, eh? Thank goodness I didn't have my credit card out because I would be making some serious returns next week. I did however snap up those chelsea boots because it's fiscally responsible to buy off season.

Back To The Asylum

After working from home for 3 days with baby with a case of Montezuma's Revenge by way of D.C., the plan is to go back into the office tomorrow. I've been wearing the same Adventure Time shirt for days, sometimes with pants, sometimes without - I've been seeing where the days takes me. So nothing says back to the nuthouse better than white! Note to readers (ok, reader), I am not wearing the Chloé blazer above but it's the closet looking thing to the white blazer that I am wearing and cannot locate a link for. Plus I think it is boss. To be more realistic, what I am wearing is probably more comparable to this. But since I'm not providing the pictures right now of me modeling it, you can just imagine I'm wearing the Chloé, mmm kay?

Earrings : my own T-shirt (in scoop instead of v-neck): James Perse Cotton T-shirt Jeans: J Brand Leggings-Style Jeans Necklace: C. Wonder Druzy Necklace Handbag: Louis Vuitton Trouville (my own) Sandals: Nicholas Jocelyn Embossed Suede Sandals Watch: Michael Kors Large Runway Watch
